Tonnie Iredia is a Broadcast Journalist, Lawyer and Communication expert first as an industry player and later as a theorist.
Iredia began his working career as a pupil reporter rising through the ranks to become Director General of Africa’s largest tv network – the Nigerian Television Authority NTA. He also served briefly as Director General of the National Orientation Agency NOA.
Iredia was a pivotal member of the team that conducted the famous June 12 1993 Presidential election recognized worldwide as the best in Nigeria’s electoral history.
In the academia, his chain of notches made up of two first degrees, one masters and two doctorates positioned him to serve as Head of Department of Mass Communication at the Nasarawa State University Keffi and later, Professor of Media Law & Broadcast Management at Igbinedion University, Okada.
He has won many awards including the Christopher Kolade Award for Excellence in Leadership and Professionalism in media by Hallmarks of Labour Foundation (HLR). A recipient of Nigeria’s National Honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), Tonnie Iredia is a renown humanitarian warrior, multiple star Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor of Rotary International.
