The Department of Broadcasting provides a comprehensive education in radio, television, and online media production. Students learn both the art and science of broadcast communication, including content creation, presentation, production, and media management.
Key areas of study include:
Radio and Television Production Techniques
Broadcast Journalism and News Presentation
Scriptwriting for Broadcast
Media Law and Ethics in Broadcasting
Digital and Online Broadcasting
Technical Operations (sound, camera, and editing)
Audience Analysis and Broadcast Programming
Facilities include a campus radio station, television studio, digital recording suites, and editing labs, giving students first-hand experience in professional broadcast environments.
Undergraduate Admission
Minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, and three other relevant subjects (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) obtained in not more than two sittings.
A satisfactory UTME score in relevant subjects (e.g., English, Literature, Government, or related fields).
Direct Entry applicants must present two A-Level passes, OND, NCE, or equivalent qualifications acceptable to the university.
Applicants awaiting results are welcome to apply, with conditional admission pending result verification.
Postgraduate Admission (if applicable)
A Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Mass Communication, Journalism, or related fields with at least a Second Class Lower from a recognized institution.
Submission of official transcripts and academic/professional references.
For Ph.D. programmes: a Master’s degree in a related field with a CGPA of at least 3.5/5.0 and a research proposal in broadcasting or media.
