Strategic Communication

The Department of Strategic Communication at TIUC equips students with the skills to plan, manage, and evaluate communication strategies that influence public perception, build strong brands, and support organizational goals. Our programme blends theory with practice, preparing graduates for careers in public relations, corporate communication, advocacy, and digital strategy.

The Department of Strategic Communication focuses on the management side of communication, helping students understand how messages shape audiences, policies, and reputations. Our curriculum integrates traditional communication skills with emerging digital technologies.

Students benefit from simulation labs, case study workshops, and industry-led seminars, ensuring they graduate with practical, real-world skills.

Undergraduate Admission

  • Five (5) O’Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics, plus three other relevant subjects (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB), obtained in not more than two sittings.

  • A competitive UTME score in subjects relevant to communication and social sciences.

  • Direct Entry candidates must have two A-Level passes, OND, NCE, or equivalent qualifications acceptable to TIUC.

  • Awaiting result candidates are accepted, but admission will be conditional until results are submitted.

Postgraduate Admission

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Mass Communication, Journalism, or related fields, with at least a Second Class Lower Division.

  • Submission of transcripts and professional/academic references.

  • For M.Sc.: Applicants with backgrounds in other disciplines may be considered if they demonstrate relevant work experience in communication.

  • For Ph.D.: A Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.5/5.0 in a relevant discipline, plus a research proposal.

Graduates of the Department of Strategic Communication are prepared for roles such as:

  • Corporate Communication Specialists

  • Public Relations Officers/Consultants

  • Crisis Communication Managers

  • Integrated Marketing Communication Managers

  • Media Relations Managers

  • Digital Communication & Strategy Consultants

  • Policy & Advocacy Communication Specialists

  • Communication Researchers & Analysts
