



The Department of Development Communication focuses on how communication strategies can support social transformation, civic participation, and policy influence. Students gain skills in designing communication interventions for development projects, NGOs, government agencies, and international organizations.

The department emphasizes practical, project-based learning, with opportunities for fieldwork, internships, and collaborations with NGOs, government agencies, and development partners.
Undergraduate Admission
Five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three other relevant subjects (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB), obtained in not more than two sittings.
A satisfactory UTME score in subjects relevant to communication and social sciences.
Direct Entry candidates must hold two A-Level passes, OND, NCE, or equivalent qualifications acceptable to TIUC.
Awaiting result candidates are welcome to apply, with conditional admission until results are verified.
Postgraduate Admission
A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related disciplines with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
Submission of official transcripts and references.
For M.Sc.: Applicants with backgrounds in other fields may be considered if they have relevant work/volunteer experience in development communication.
For Ph.D.: A Master’s degree with at least 3.5/5.0 CGPA in development communication, communication studies, or related fields, plus a research proposal.

Research, Teaching, and Consultancy in Development Communication
